today’s bullshit is all about the 14th amendment

Fourteenth Amendment – Rights Guaranteed Privileges and Immunities of Citizenship, Due Process and Equal Protection

Section. 1. All persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.


in talking with “the new guy” the other day i made a joke that we couldn’t possibly date for very long because he is a *gasp*….*whispering* republican…even moreso that i am a “liberal”…but come to find out we really are not that far apart, he doesn’t agree with any sort of welfare and i’ve found i’m not the “tree hugger” sort of liberal inasmuch as the “morals & ethics” sort…i guess in that aspect, we are not that far off…just please lets not talk about past presidencies :)

all over the news today is talk of a ballot on table in arizona that will deny birth certificates of new babies born in this country to illegal aliens (one suggestion was to mark birth certificates)…um, WTF?? does anyone else recall a time in history of “marking” people due to who their parents were? i’m not saying we are turning into nazi’s…but to me this doesn’t seem far off. Without a birth certificate, these children will be denied any governmental help: medicaid, family & children services (food stamps), WIC, subsidized learning, head start programs, inoculations, immunizations, well baby care…and on. how many times in your life have you had to show your birth certificate?

PHOENIX – The Arizona Hospital and Healthcare Association says it’s troubled by a proposed ballot initiative that would prevent birth certificates from being issued to children of illegal immigrants.
The association is studying the newly filed proposal but says it appears hospital personnel would be burdened with a law enforcement role and could erode care provider-patient trust.
The “Birthright Citizenship Alignment Act” proposed for Arizona’s November ballot would require hospitals to check citizenship of newborns’ parents.

it really pisses me off…its BULLSHIT. read the 1st section of the 14th amendment again — grrr. “nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.”

where the fuck in there does it say “unless your parent’s are not american citizen’s?” how is it the child’s fault who their parent’s are or what circumstances brought them into this world to begin with?

really disappointed in my country right now, even happier i don’t live in arizona…as i read the comments from the arizona newspapers’ readers i see Della Montgomery is close to sainthood for you people…

why do we even bother with the constitution? it may as well be used to swat the new puppy for shitting on the carpet in the white house…

now, i will admit, i’m a bit of hypocritical “liberal” — i’m all about fairness. eye for an eye, punishment should fit the crime…yadda, yadda. as far as immigration, my only “issue” with illegal immigrants is paying taxes…why should i pay taxes you don’t have for my government? if the goverment takes as much of your money as it does mine, i could care less who your parents were or how you got here…
